Am I the only one who feels something magical when I rock my baby to sleep at night in her cozy nursery? Sometimes I literally can’t hold back tears because I feel so blessed to have a warm, comfortable room to sing her to sleep at night. I dim the lights, read stories, cover her in a warm blanket, wrap her arms around her bunny. It’s such a special time for us as a family. But then the tears get greater when I think, not everyone has this. A room.
Having a baby is such an amazing blessing. There is no greater joy than the little person that makes you a mommy. But having a baby also brings on stress & a drastic change in your everyday life. What if that person who is trying so hard to get by, decided being a mommy or daddy is who they’re meant to be, but doesn’t have the means to create a beautiful space to wind down in at night? I personally can’t imagine not having a safe place to cuddle my baby and feeling like whatever hardships came that day were worth it, just to be right there in that moment with my baby. And every parent should get to feel that from time to time.
I came up with the idea to donate a beautiful nursery to a deserving family, with the help of so many others. I came up with this idea back in December, and immediately began my search for a family who could use a nursery. I decided to contact Options 360 to see if they could help match me with a family. It took some time but they eventually found a family who they felt would love this opportunity! I was so excited to start the process working to create a beautiful space for them. The family was so amazing and completely open to any ideas I had. We decided it would be most exciting to leave all the details a secret and do a surprise reveal! The only thing they got a little preview of was the painted room since we had to do that days before the actual nursery set-up.
The parents who received the nursery are a young, adorable couple who found themselves pregnant on New Years Eve! Their pregnancy came at a bit of a surprise, but they are both thrilled to get to raise their new baby boy together. The mom takes classes at Options 360 and is due in early September with a little boy named Zayd. It was so fun to see their reaction, the dad actually got really excited and kept commenting on how amazed he was by the crib sheet. They are so excited to bring their baby home to the room, which obviously makes me the happiest person in the world! I’m so excited to meet their new baby!
Before I list all the wonderful donors, I have to thank my two BIGGEST helpers with this project, Joy Anderson with Little Bella Photography and my darling hubby, Jake. Joy pretty much became my partner with the project and not only helped me with painting the room and decorating, but she went out of her way to pick up furniture and even purchased many of the items with her own money. Thank you JOY, you truly are the best! And Jake was the best handy man ever, helping do all the dreaded work of setting up the crib and hanging wall art.
We had lots of donations, and I’m amazed at the generosity people displayed with this project. A big thank you to the following people:
Stitches and Moor / Ryonet – made the customized crib sheet (make sure to check out her crocheted items, perfect for baby gifts!) & donated the diaper bag
Lindsay Mathes – “as soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen” art work (LOVE!)
Megan Tierny – made the adorable fox stuffed animal (I need one!)
Jones family – crib and mattress
Carter family – bumbo, blankets, bottles, swaddles, etc.
Joy Anderson – rug, black/white basket, black closet curtains, crib pillow, clock
Barto family – donated clothing, shoes, books, poppy, etc.
Lightheart family – donated clothing, blankets, etc.
Blancherd Family – rocking chair & horse
Amy Mosbrucker – vintage table, baskets
